Nissan Micra Compact Sport Concept

Just days after the release of the sporty Nissan Leaf Nismo Racing Competition concept at the New York motor show, the Japanese manufacturer has released another sporty concept which is aimed at younger drivers as an alternative hot hatch. The new Nissan Micra Compact Sport Concept hatch was released at the 2011 Chinese expo and is a joint design between Nissan’s Head Quarters and Nissan’s Beijing design Studio. If the finished design from both teams was to go on sale tomorrow it would fly out of the dealerships doors.

Stand out features must be the flared bodywork, front double mesh grilles, front bonnet with its pointy nose and the uniquely shaped front windscreen. The Nissan’s interior is very futuristic looking with its glowing red dash board and touch screen infotainment system. The styling on the inside and outside is not let down by the power of the Nissan Micra’s Compact Sport engine as it has been fitted with a 1.6 litre turbo charged engine that produces 188bhp. The only small blemish is the fact that they have used the current Micra’s CVT gearbox which is not exactly sporty.

No news as yet to when and if Nissan will produce this form of the Nissan Micra but let’s hope they do as Nissan has not produced much in the way of a hot hatch since the days of the Nissan Sunny GTi-R and Nissan Almera GTi.
