Ford have just released their new overhauled engines and gearboxes for the Mondeo. The 2.0litre EcoBoost engine that will replace the 2.3litre engine will give you better performance while also managing to be 19% more efficient. The new Ford EcoBoost 200bhp petrol engine which is already found in the S-Max and Galaxy will be available from £22,095. Ford have also spent time reworking the 2.0litre TDCi diesel engine family to meet the stringent Euro V emissions standards. The Ford Mondeo TDCi engine will be available in 114bhp, 138bhp and for the first time 161bhp outputs. Ford’s new twin clutch automatic Power Shift gearbox will be fitted to all EcoBoost engines, but it will be a £1500 option on the two more powerful diesels to replace the standard six-speed manual. The latest Ford Mondeo has grown - it's now almost as big as a BMW 5-Series! Fortunately, the vast exterior translates into a huge cabin. There’s ample room for five adults, while those in the back get plenty of leg and headroom. Unsurprisingly the Mondeo estate serves up the most carrying capacity, with an incredible 1,745-litres available with the rear seats folded flat.
